What is Lourdes?

Capturing the essence of Lourdes in words is kinda tricky. Essentially, as a youth helper - you spend a stupid amount of money on a week in the foothills of the Pyrenees working your tits off (apart from a few notable exceptions) wheeling around/entertaining/looking after the sick and elderly from whatever pilgramage you go with (in our case the Catholic Association) - putting them to bed - going out and then climbing into your own bed in time to turn off the alarm and get into the shower ready to start over.

Doesn't sound too good huh? Well I can easily say that (almost) every year I go and every year I have the most breathtaking experiences. I witness miracles of faith, friendship and love beyond compare and it totally blows my mind every time. The youth group somehow seem to pull together some of the coolest people alive out of the pit that is our soceity and I can honestly say that I am deeply honoured to have even met (almost) every last one of them.
